HISTORY

We thought you’d enjoy a little history on things. After all, it’s not every day your existence is devoured. We hope this online course will highlight our efforts and debunk any misunderstandings you may have. And down below we’ve arranged some musical options for you to listen to during the end of all time and space to help ease the tension.

Lovecraft at first sight

  • Howard Phillips Lovecraft -

H.P. Lovecraft was an American author of weird, science, fantasy, and horror fiction. He is best known for his creation of the Cthulhu Mythos and considered the grandfather of the cosmic horror genre.

Contrary to popular belief, Lovecraft was not a reclusive shut-in during his adult life, but did enjoy a small circle of close friends - though he did remain certainly introverted and financially poor near the end of his life. He was an autodidact, reading books far advanced for his age as a child.

Despite his lack of formal education, he achieved great acclaim after his death in 1937.

We argue about how he’d feel about Emily Eldritch as a main protagonist in his continued mythos… But we’d like to think she’d have grown on him…

  • The Cthulhu Mythos is a shared fictional universe depicting eldritch horrors and cosmic entities beyond human comprehension that originated in the works of American horror writer H. P. Lovecraft.

The term was coined by August Derleth, a contemporary correspondent and protégé of Lovecraft, to identify the settings, tropes, and lore that were employed by Lovecraft and his literary successors.

Lovecraft insisted other writers enjoy and expand his created mythos.

    …Thanks, Howard.

  • The world of Emily Eldritch is an endearing continuation and homage to H.P. Lovecraft’s immersive mythos. While it doesn’t necessarily arrive towards the same worldview Lovecraft believed, it is no doubt a powerful tribute to his works and creativity.

  • Emily Eldritch falls into the genre of Lovecraftian urban fantasy horror. While it deals with some rather graphic scenes and situations, its main readership is geared towards readers 16 and up.

  • We hope the future brings us closer together, not just in the devouring of your reality, but in mutual understanding of the fact some things can always get better! Existential dread is not always the only pale light at the end of the tunnel!

  • What started it all… in the Ye of Tubes…
